Where we are what we do

Situated in an oasis, the tiny traditional Berber village of Tissardmine, comprising of 20 houses, is a short drive or long walk away from one of the Sahara’s most extraordinary natural phenomenons, Erg Chebbi, a large dune stretching 22 kms long and 5 kms wide and peaking up to 150 metres high. Formed by wind blown sand, Erg Chebbi is celebrated for its unique golden-orange sand formations that start at the most northern tip of the Sahara and undulate across Morocco to Tomboctou.

Cafe Tissardmine sits on the edge of the village and is a place that is restful, inspirational and sometimes challenging. At Cafe Tissardmine we run an artist-in-Residence program for practicing artists from all disciplines and is self-directed. We also run occasional writing workshops led by published authors, suitable for anyone with a desire to write; Whilst we love to have visitors drop in for lunch, short stays are only possible if dates fit around the residencies and other programs.

We can cater to groups wishing to hire the entire place for 5 – 10 days.

Everything is possible, nothing is certain…
